OLIN Partnership Awarded IPart MicroVoucher for PHI SBIR to EPA

OLIN Labs is the research and development group at OLIN, a landscape architecture, planning, and urban design practice founded in 1976 with the mission to “create places that enhance life.” Dedicated to supporting community health and wellbeing and the healthy functioning of ecosystems, OLIN specializes in green infrastructure, resilient design, and landscape over structure. For the past 30 years, the practice has included a focus on manufactured soil material specification in urban environments. Innovative materials research at OLIN has been funded by the U.S. EPA and the William Penn Foundation in partnership with public and academic stakeholders.

OLIN Labs (Labs), established in 2017, conducts research focused on the exterior built environment. Project research includes improvements in the documentation and the construction of built landscape environments. Research includes both horticultural and exterior building material products focused on lifecycle analysis, commercial application, and sustainability.

Olin’s EPA SBIR Project is focused on the developmental investigation of biochar-amended, glass-based engineered soils applied to high value horticultural and green stormwater infrastructure applications.  Olin has successfully received a previous PHI from the EPA (IPart-assisted), and a follow-on PHII.
