National Aeronautics and Space Administration
Small Business Innovation Research & Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) Program
The SBIR and STTR programs have been reauthorized.
Today is the start of a new era as the agency published the NASA SBIR/STTR Program Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Broad Agency Announcement (BAA), which was developed to increase innovation opportunities for our small businesses while allowing flexibility to NASA.
To put you in the best position to work within the new BAA framework, NASA has added a BAA Information Hub to their website. It includes a brief overview of the BAA as well as a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section. If, after reading through the FAQ, you still have questions, please contact the NASA SBIR/STTR Help Desk at agency-sbir@mail.nasa.gov.
The direct link to NASA’s PhI SBIR/STTR information page is located HERE.
PhI SBIR Awards are up to $225,000, with a project performance period of 6 months.
PhI STTR Awards are up to $225,000, with a project performance period of 13 months.
Deadline for proposal submissions is Thursday, May 21, 2026 by 5:00 PM ET
NASA will not accept more than two (2) proposal packages from any one offeror for this funding opportunity.
NASA will soon be announcing open dates for 2026 Appendix A SBIR, 2026 Appendix B SBIR, and 2026 Appendix B STTR. When they are released, please review each appendix carefully to see the full scope of the open topics and subtopics. We are implementing a shorter submission period for these appendices, so be sure to note the dates when that announcement is released.
NASA SBIR/STTR Program
We will post all information about the BAA to our BAA Information Hub and share updates through emails and our newsletter, so make sure you sign up to receive communications on our website.
2025 SBIR Phase II
The 2025 SBIR Phase II solicitation will not be included as an appendix to the BAA but will be its own solicitation. NASA will send an email directly to the eligible 2025 SBIR Phase I awardees regarding the 2025 SBIR Phase II solicitation soon.

You can get a head start on proposal preparations by completing your registration now for ProSAMS—the program’s proposal submissions and award management system.
