DOE SBIR/STTR Phase I Release 2 Topics Notice

Topics for DOE’s FY13 SBIR/STTR Phase I Release 2 Funding Opportunity Announcement have been issued and are available on our website: http://science.energy.gov/~/media/sbir/pdf/solicitations/DOE-FY13P1R2Topics.pdf

 

The DOE program offices participating in this solicitation include:

• Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability
• Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
• Office of Environmental Management
• Office of Fossil Energy
• Office of Nuclear Energy

Please note the following three important notices to our topics for FY13:


Technology Transfer Opportunities: The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy program office has incorporated a Technology Transfer Opportunity (TTO) from a DOE National Laboratory into a selected topic.  Please see the information beginning on page 3 of the Topics document if you plan to submit an application for a TTO.

Maximum Award Amounts: Beginning in FY13 we are specifying the maximum award amount for both Phase I and Phase II with the topic name.   The two amounts used in Release 2 are:  Phase I, $150,000/Phase II, $1,000,000 or Phase I, $225,000/Phase II, $1,500,000.   Be sure that your application does not exceed the maximum award amount for the topic to which you are applying.

Fast-Track Applications: Beginning in FY13 we are accepting Fast-Track applications along with regular Phase I applications.  A Fast-Track application is a combined Phase I and Phase II application.  For more information about Fast-Track applications see the Funding Opportunity Announcement (available 11/26) or our overview webinar (available now on the first page of our website (http://science.energy.gov/sbir/ ).   Fast-track applications will not be accepted for all topics.  Those designated as “No Fast-Track” will not be accepting Fast-Track applications.

•       FOA Issued: Monday, November 26, 2012
•       Letter of Intent Due Date: Monday, December 17, 2012
•       Application Due Date: Tuesday, February 5, 2013
•       Award Notification Date: Late April 2013*
•       Start of Grant Budget Period: Early June 2013*
