PA’s IPart is excited to announce our first Direct to Phase II (D2P2) SBIR Awardee in the program’s history!
IPart assisted Matt Bilsky, President, CEO & Founder of FLX Solutions, located in Bethlehem, PA, for a February 2025, D2P2 SBIR proposal submission to the Air Force. Matt and his team have been interacting with the DoD for a number of years across their solution development and refinements – and it has paid off! Their 2-year $1.4M SBIR Award will enable FLX to further develop & commercialize their innovation. Click on the company logo above to read more about FLX Solutions and their innovative product.
FLX Solutions is an early-stage technology company founded in 2019 by Dr. Matt Bilsky, inventor of the FLX BOT, and is focused on three key markets – Defense, Transit, and Maintenance. The FLX BOT is a handheld, collaborative robot capable of ‘snaking’ into otherwise inaccessible spaces to perform maintenance and inspection tasks. The FLX BOT can be used with minimal instruction, allowing maintenance technicians, airman, sailors, and soldiers to perform tasks in 90% less time while also improving safety. Using the FLX BOT, servicemen can perform their tasks without ladders or scaffolding and no longer need to physically enter confined spaces.
The FLX BOT is 1” in diameter and can be configured with multiple articulating links to maneuver deep into otherwise inaccessible spaces (see Figure #1: FLX BOT, the handheld snake-like robot.) It can be operated at the end of an extender pole to reach heights and can be outfitted with numerous, different payloads including cameras, gas/leak detectors, microphones, grippers, thermal detectors, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) weld inspectors, and others.
Please join us in congradulating Matt, his team at FLX Solutions, and all supporting partners!
