Event Description:
These low cost, one day workshops provide in depth guidance on the DOD SBIR / STTR programs and are ideal for those new to the program as well as those who have participated in SBIR or STTR previously. The Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) will have a special discussion on the recent SBIR program reauthorization and how that will specifically impact current and future SBIR/STTR awards.
The DoD SBIR & STTR grant programs have over $1.3B available to fund early stage R&D projects based on the needs of each agency. DoD is different than all other agencies who have SBIR/STTR grants, and each DoD component is different. Learn how to tap into this valuable funding mechanism!
Event will be taught by Mr. John Davis of the SBIR Resource Center. With over 17 years experience in teaching SBIR, Mr. Davis brings a unique perspective into the program and provides detailed content that is sure to make a difference your approach to writing winning SBIR/STTR for the Dept. of Defense.
SBIR Recipient Insights — Each session will include a special presentation from a highly successful SBIR recipient:
At this session hear C.J.Reddy, President of Applied EM in Hampton, VA. Applied EM is a pioneer in innovative compact antenna designs for commercial and defense applications. In collaboration with universities and industry partners, Applied EM specializes in developing small form factor antennas that reliably perform in relatively low VHF/UHF frequencies. Applied EM’s product line includes state of the art compact broadband antennas that cover 100MHz to 18GHz, compact direction finding antennas for VHF/UHF bands and compact GPS/Anti-Jam GPS antennas. Applied EM also developed novel “paint-on” antenna technology for conformal applications. Custom designs are available for OEM production. Applied EM also develops innovative electromagnetic simulation tools using asymptotic computational techniques. Applied EM developed innovative antenna technologies under various DoD SBIR projects (so far ~25 Phase I and ~20 Phase II projects). Applied EM worked with the Army, Navy and Air Force as well as NASA, and is actively working with primes to transition these technologies to various DoD applications. Applied EM also established a product line to commercialize these technologies.
