NIH SBIR/STTR Webinar on Enhancing Peer Review:
What’s An Applicant to Do?

Register Today!

This announcement is targeted primarily to those who are working diligently to finalize their SBIR/STTR applications for the upcoming April 5 due date.

If this is your first time, you may be feeling overwhelmed.  Even if you have submitted in the past, you may still find this to be a daunting task given the recent Enhancing Peer Review (
http://enhancing-peer-review.nih.gov/restructured_applications.html) changes that are now in effect for ALL (new or resubmission) applications with due dates on or after January 25, 2010.

In the past, NIH has shared submission tips and encouraged all of you to review these:

However, this round, NIH has been receiving many questions and thought an interactive webinar would be helpful—one in which the Agency can provide clarification on some key issues and where you could ask them questions.

WHAT: An interactive Webinar (through GoToMeeting) GOAL:  To provide an opportunity for NIH staff to discuss the restructuring of the Research Plan, new page limits, new scoring, and other changes resulting from Enhancing Peer Review and to provide a forum for you to ask questions.

WHEN: Monday, March 15, 2010; 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM EST

REGISTRATION:
https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/735602218

(Note: the session is free, but you must register to participate)

You will be connected to audio using your computer’s microphone and speakers (VoIP). A headset is recommended.

Or, you may select Use Telephone after joining the Webinar.

NIH/NCI will discuss a few hot topics noted below and also provide you the opportunity to ask general questions. In this fashion, you will be able to type your question into a “control panel” or ask on the phone.

Topics:

  • E-Submission: Registration Reminders and New Forms
  • Preparing Your Application: An in-depth look at Enhancing Peer Review- What’s an applicant to do!?
    • New Scoring System  (took effect with May/June 2009 reviews)
    • Restructured Summary Statements
    • Restructured Application and Instructions (for applications with due dates on or after Jan. 25, 2010)
      • New Research Strategy
      • Biographical Sketch changes
      • Resources section
    • Shorter Page Limits

We hope that many of you will take advantage of this opportunity to log on for some or all of this two-hour discussion.
